Senegal's ruling coalition easily won legislative elections held on Sunday amid low voter turnout and an opposition boycott, raking in 131 of 150 seats in the national assembly, according to provisional results released today. The dpa reported that some 10 opposition parties - including the country's three largest - boycotted the vote after President Abdoulaye Wade, who was re- elected in February despite opposition charges of fraud and irregularities, had refused to review the electoral process. A dozen smaller opposition parties won between one and three seats. Voters were urged not to cast their ballots and turnout was pegged at just under 35 per cent. -- SPA
