Hijjah 1431/ Nov 14, SPA -- Nine pro-government militiamen, one policeman and seven suspected Taliban fighters were killed in combat at a check point of communication tower in northern Afghanistan, a police official said Monday. A group of insurgents attacked a security post of communication tower Sunday night in the Qala Zal district of Kunduz province, engaging the militiamen, Kunduz provincial police chief Abdul Rahman SayedKhaili said. "Nine pro-government forces were killed and two others were injured in the firefight," he added. Police reinforcements were dispatched as the battle went on for hours, killing one police officer, he said.
