Hijjah 1431 H/ 12 November 2010, SPA -- Prince Filipe de Bourbon, Heir Apparent of the Kingdom of Spain patronized here today in the presence of Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA); Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to Spain; Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Governor of Riyadh Region, the opening ceremony of the Marvelous Antiquities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Through History exhibition, organized by Lakashya Foundation in Barcelona in cooperation with the SCTA. The exhibition lasts until 27 February 2011. The Spanish prince and his senior guests toured the exhibition and were briefed on its contents. In a statement following the exhibition, Prince Sultan bin Salman confirmed that the exhibition reflects the distinguished historical, civilization and traditional movement of the Kingdom, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. It is also an extension of the Kingdom's role regionally and internationally as well as a reflection to its status in the Islamic world in its capacity as home to the two holy mosques, he added. He said the patronage of Spain of this event is a recognition of the Arab peninsula's history. He noted that 16 teams of experts are excavating the Kingdom's antiquities, a move designed by SCTA to reflect the civilization aspect of the country. He said our mission to the world is that we are not a temporary nation as our roots go deep in history. For his part, the Saudi ambassador to Spain said the exhibition is a ring in a series of close cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Spain, noting that the display of the exhibition's contents coincides with the flourishing bilateral relations between the two countries. He said Lakashya Foundation shoulders the costs of the 320-piece exhibition in recognition of its importance. He said the exhibition covers the eras since the ancient stone era to date.
