Qa'dah 18, 1431, Oct 26, 2010, SPA -- Over $55 billion worth of new projects are in the pipeline in the petrochemical and chemical sector in the GCC and the current export volume from GCC to other countries is 80 million tons per year, a top official at the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) said. "The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region accounts for 16 percent of the global output of chemicals and petrochemicals and in the year 2015 it will increase to 20 percent," Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, the secretary general of GPCA told a press conference here on Sunday. The 2nd Supply Chain Conference will conclude its three-day deliberations in Manama on October 26 at the Gulf Convention Center, Gulf Hotel, Bahrain. The theme of the conference this year will be "Serving Vibrant Global Markets," and the conference's objective is to analyze the current landscape of the supply chain industry on a regional level, and what can be done to give this industry the proper atmosphere to grow rapidly and effectively cater to the massive expansion drive in the petrochemical and chemical production capacities in the Gulf region, according to a press statement published today.
