Qaeda 1431 H. / 21 October 2010, SPA -- A fire, caused by a sudden electric ignition at a power transmutation station in Jeddah today led to power disconnection in some of the Red Sea city neighborhoods, the Saudi Electricity Company explained. In a statement, SEC said "As a result to electric difficiency at the far ends of cables at the 110vol transutaion station in Al-Girayat District of Jeddah which took place at 6:25 on Thursday morning, an electric ignition led to the flare up of a fire at the transmutation station. The fire caused a shutdownof power current in some districts neigboring the station, noting that the size of load loss was estimated at 155 megawatt, the statement said, adding that SEC immediately provided the alternative feeders that were able to restore the current by 90 percent of affected subscribers. Work to provide the service for the rest of dark places is underway, the statement concluded.
