Qaeda 1431 H. / 18 October 2010, SPA -- Saudi Shoura Council's Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh met here today with Spain's Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos in the attendance of Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Saudi ambassador to Spain. Moratinos called for further boosting bilateral relations between the two countries as well as the joint efforts to bring about peace in the Middle East and spread of dialogue and peace among followers of religions and cultures in the world, noting that his country is working with the other European Union countries to find a solution to the Palestinian issue and bring fair and comprehensive peace in the region. Given the Kingdom's political leverage in the Arab and Islamic worlds, Spain reckons on Saudi Arabia to play an effective role in this direction, the Spanish senior official said. He underscored the importance of strengthening the parliamentary relations between the two countries. For his part, Al Al-Sheikh said the two kingdoms were tied with distinguished relations in all fields. He paid tribute to Spain's role in bringing about peace to the region. In a statement to the Saudi press Agency, Al Al-Sheikh described his meeting with the Spanish minister as important and useful and reflects the level of relations between the two countries. He underscored the importance of exchanging such high level visits between officials of the two countries for further promoting bilateral ties between the them. He lauded the efforts exerted by the Saudi ambassador to Spain to arrange this visit and other activities to augment the rhythm of boosting bilateral relations between Riyadh and Madrid. Al Al-Sheikh noted that relations between the two countries witnessed steady growth over the last few years, thanks to the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and King Juan Carlos of Spain. The meeting was also attended by Al Al-Sheikh's accompanying delegation.
