Qa'dah 10, 1431, Oct 18, 2010, SPA -- The 3rd World Conference of News Agencies entitled "News Agencies in the 21st Century, Opportunities and Challenges" will start in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires on Wednesday. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) will be represented by its Director General Abdullah bin Fahad Al-Hussain, who will deliver a speech at the Conference to present officially the invitation to hold the 4th World Conference of News Agencies in 2013 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was welcomed by the International Council of News Agencies during its meetings in the Spanish capital of Madrid last January. The 3rd World Conference will discuss a number of topics on the development of cooperation between news agencies, promotion of fair competition among them, the roles of news agencies around the world, and prospects for development of the agencies' performance in the field of news exchange and training. The Saudi Press Agency is a member of the International Conference of News Agencies. It participated in its first meeting held in Moscow in 2004 under the patronage of the Russian President and in its second meeting held in Madrid under the patronage of King of Spain in 2008. Participants in the conference include news agencies from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Morocco, Jordan, Oman, Syria, Lebanon, Australia, Spain, France, Russia, Italy, India and Argentina; in addition to Reuters, The Associated Press, Telam Argentine Agency, and Nigerian NAN Agency ; as well as The European Union Organizations of News Agencies and The Organization of News Agencies of South-East Asia and the Pacific.
