Qa'dah 03, 1431 / Oct. 11, 2010, SPA -- Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the cabinet session held at Al-Yamamah Palace here today. At the outset of the session, the Custodian of the Two holy Mosques briefed the Cabinet on the consultations and communications that took place between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of brotherly and friendly countries which dealt with ways of enhancing bilateral relations and the regional and international developments. The Custodian of the Two holy Mosques also briefed the Cabinet on the telephone call he received from King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain; State Councilor and Public Security Minister Meng Jianzhu of China; and former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi of Iraq. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja said the Cabinet reviewed the recommendations on the development of Arab joint action which were issued by the Extraordinary Arab Summit held in Sirte, Libya. The Cabinet stressed that reforming the system requires first and foremost activating Arab cooperation through enhancing the Arab League in order to promote Arab action to become a joint and effective action at Arab and international levels. The Arab joint action neither needs radical changes to the Charter nor requires establishment of new institutions, but rather needs activating and strengthening the existing institutions in addition to seriously and practically committing to the decisions and reforms agreed on as well as ensuring the highest degree of credibility in implementing the decisions. These are based on sound foundations that meet the aspirations of Arab leaders and peoples and are consistent with the Charter of Arab League and Document of Pledge and Accord as well as the decisions of the Supreme Council. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the outcomes of the Second Afro-Arab Summit held in Sirte, Libya, and expressed hope that the outcomes will activate the Afro-Arab cooperation in a way that serves Arab and African peoples and helps both regions face all challenges. --More
