Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Ibn Abdulaziz, the Governor of Makkah Province has announced that there are a number of vital projects in the province, including a trams system worth SR 21 billion in 12 main streets linking various residential districts of Jeddah. "Moreover, the annual operation costs of the new system amounts to SR 370 million." In an interview with 'Makkah' Magazine issued the Principality of Makkah, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal said, “The Ministry of Transport has a plan to operate 816 buses to link the city's various districts as part of the new plan.” He said that Jeddah needs about 953,000 housing units for the next 20 years, pointing out that the target can be achieved by establishing low-cost houses in phases in the next ten years. "The Jeddah Development Company has plans to construct 50,000 housing units in the northern and southern parts of Jeddah."
