Bahrain will join the international community in celebrating the World Habitat Day tomorrow. The UN Human Settlements Programme has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day, to reflect on the state of towns and cities and the basic right of all, to adequate shelter. The annual event is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat. Bahraini Prime Minister Prince Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa called for a roadmap with a special focus on urbanization, particularly in developing countries. "Increasing awareness on such issues is the ideal way towards building a sustainable society that guarantees a better life for mankind, at present and in the future", the Premier said in a message to the World Habitat Day quoted by Bahraini News Agency "BNA."
