The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the 7th meeting of the Permanent Consultative Framework (PCF) held on 21st September 2010 in Ouagadougou under the chairmanship of President Blaise Compaore of Burkina Faso. Prof. Ihsanoglu noted that this gathering came after the validation of the voters' register and the fixing of a date for the first round of the presidential election scheduled for 31st October 2010. In this context, he urged all Ivoirian stakeholders to place the interests of their country above any narrow consideration by striving for an all inclusive dialogue so as to restore lasting peace and reconciliation in Cote d'Ivoire. Prof. Ihsanoglu invited all candidates in the presidential election to conduct peaceful and responsible campaign in compliance with the spirit and letter of the code of conduct signed on 24th April 2008. He further appealed to all State institutions in charge of the electoral process to guarantee its transparency and fairness. The Secretary General finally appealed to the OIC Member States and institutions to continue to extend assistance towards the reconstruction and development of Cote d'Ivoire.
