An Indonesian maritime task-force for peace-keeping deployment in Lebanon left for the Middle-eastern country, Monday, after a send-off ceremony presided over by the Eastern Indonesia Fleet Commander Admiral Bambang Suwarto. Suwarto briefed the 100-personnel task-force under the Garuda VIII-B Contingent before they boarded the Indonesian warship KRI Frans Kaisiepo 386, under the command of Lt. Colonel Wasis Priyono for shipment to Lebanon via Jakarta, Cochin, Port Said and Beirut. In his briefing, Admiral Suwarto said that the deployment of the task-force that will operate under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is the second assignment after the first deployment in 2009. "This duty and trust of the United Nations is the pride of all personnel of the Indonesian navy," Admiral Suwarto said when inspecting contingent on the corvette, according to a report of the Indonesian news agency "ANTARA." He hoped the task-force will uphold the credibility of the Indonesian military as it will serve along with the contingents of other countries in the UNIFIL maritime task-force in Lebanon.
