The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) will hold a meeting of foreign ministers of its Member States on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the United Nations General Assembly which will run until 27 September 2010. The OIC Secretary General, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, who is in New York to attend the annual meetings, will avail this visit, which is also aimed at discussing issues of the Muslim world with the Islamic Group in the General Assembly. During his visit, he will also tour some U.S. cities. Ihsanoglu is expected to meet senior officials from various OIC Member States. He would also hold meetings with senior officials in the US administration and various countries with a view to coordinating action on issues of common concern. The Secretary General's visit will be devoted to working within the Islamic Group in the UN and various international organizations in order to come up with common positions and push for more effective resolutions. In separate meetings with contact groups, the Secretary General would discuss latest developments on the issues of Palestine, Iraq, Somalia, Kashmir, BosniaHerzegovina, Sierra Leone, among others, according to a press release of the OIC.
