German President Christian Wulff and interior minister Thomas de Maizière have hoped that the occasion of Eid al-fitr will be an occasion for tolerance and narrowing the gap between the Muslims and the non-Muslims who are residing in Germany. They noted that antagonistic statements that might be spellled out from time to time by some persons don't constitute official statements, and reiterated the keenness of the German government on coexistence between the Muslims and non-Muslims in Germany. Meanwhile, eid al-fitr prayers were performed today at the Saudi embassy here in the presence of Saudi ambassador to Germany Dr Osama Shubukshi. The prayers were led by Sheikh Abdel-Latif al-Jabr, the representative of the ministry of Islamic affairs, endowments, call and guidance. Later the ambassador hosted an iftar party in honor of all worshippers.
