French police who stopped a 79-year old man on Wednesday discovered that he had been driving without a licence for nearly 60 years. The driver was travelling with his wife near the Atlantic coast about 45 km (28 miles) from Nantes, according to Reuters. "The offender signed up for driving school in 1952, but never passed his test," a police source told Reuters. The driver told police his wife usually did the driving, explaining why insurance papers for the car were in order. "It means that he had been driving for 58 years without committing any offence and following the rules of the road," the source said.
