Mexican airline group Grupo Mexicana said it was suspending all fights "until further notice" due to financial difficulties. "As a result of the group's delicate financial situation… compounded by failure to reach agreements that would allow for the capitalization of its three airlines… (carriers) will suspend operations until further notice as of midday on Saturday Aug. 28, 2010," UPI quoted Grupo Mexicana as saying in a statement. The notice involves flights scheduled by Mexicana Airlines, MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink. The parent group said it was seeking out ways of securing the company's long-term financial viability, so "our passengers can once again enjoy the quality services they are accustomed to." "Passengers who have already flown a leg of their journey" and found connecting flights canceled would be given assistance, Grupo Mexicana said. Special consideration would be given to children flying unaccompanied by an adult, passengers with young children and passengers with "special needs," the airline said.
