A total of 525 houses in four villages in Pamarican sub district, Ciamis district, are now inundated by floodwater but the disaster claims no casualties, a rescuer said. Chairman of the Tarun Disaster Alert Group Ade Deni said here on Saturday that the floods were caused by the overflowing of Cikembang river after rain showered the regions since Friday (August 13). He said that heavy rains continued to fall until almost midnight on Friday had caused the river to suddenly overflow its banks and caused floods that inundated the houses of local people in the four villages. "The floods peaked at 7 am on Saturday," ANTARA quoted Ade as saying. The floods caused residents to evacuate to higher places but by the evening on Saturday, they have begun to return to their homes. "When the floods peaked at 7 am, all residents evacuated but now they have been returning to their respective houses," he said.
