The Ministry of Finance has already approved 1,420 contracts worth SR 71,528 Million for the first half of the fiscal year 1431/1432 H. In a press statement, the Ministry of Finance said among these contracts are 82 for medicines, catering and fuel involving expenditure of SR 3,087 million, 320 contracts for operation, maintenance and cleaning estimated to cost 8,415 million riyals. These contracts also include 1, 018 contracts for construction projects with a total value of SR 60.026 million covering varied sectors like 261 Municipal and Rural projects (Value:SR 5.600 million); 146 contracts for road and communications projects (SR 10.528 million), and 287 contracts for the establishment of universities, schools, training centers and other educational facilities (SR 10.545 million). These also included 40 contracts (Value: SR 929 million) for the establishment of hospitals and health centers and facilities;166 contracts (SR 5.951 million) for water projects, dams and wastewater management, and 118 contract (SR 26.473 million) for the projects of other sectors. This split-up figures does not include contracts whose value is less than SR Five million and whose duration is less than a year that have to carried out by governmental agencies directly without having to be referred to the Ministry under the system of competition and government procurement.
