Prince Faisal Ibn Khalid Ibn Abdulaziz, the Governor of Abha Province and the Chair of the Province's Tourism Development Council attended here last night the premier show of "Journey to Mecca, in the footsteps of Ibn Battuta," an IMAX® dramatic and documentary feature that tells the amazing story of Ibn Battuta, the greatest explorer of the great Islamic Era, following his first pilgrimage between 1325 and 1326 from Tangier to Makkah. His perilous journey resonates with adventure while presenting an unforgettable picture of Islamic civilization during the 14th century, culminating into Ibn Battuta's first Hajj. The story is book-ended by a close-up look at the contemporary Hajj, a pilgrimage to Makkah that draws three million Muslims from around the world. The movie presented by King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies and King Abdul-Aziz Public Library in association of the National Geographic, took four years in process of its production. Its costs amounted to SR 60 Million.
