One of the very first movies produced in Saudi Arabia regarding Haj pilgrimage was screened in Khobar recently. The 45-minute short film is based on the voyages of the famous traveler, Ibn Battuta, which finally end in the pilgrimage to Makkah. The movie portrays the hardships of earlier times and the easy way in which the Haj is performed nowadays. The premiere of the Arabic movie named ‘Rihlathun ila Makkah' (Journey to Makkah) held at Al-Khobar King Abdul Aziz Technical Education Center was viewed by Prince Turki Bin Faisal, Deputy Governer of the Eastern Province, Prince Jalawi and the famous entrepreneur, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Zamil, among other dignitaries. Dr. Al-Zamil also played a major part in producing the movie. The high-tech movie which depicts the fifth and most important pillar of Islam, the pilgrimage to Makkah, whose completion took about four years and involved efforts of several technicians including Saudi and American movie experts. Those behind the movie, say they have plans to dub the movie in various other languages like English, French, Spanish and Urdu. Also they have plans to screen the movie in Paris, New York, Indonesian cities, Abu Dhabi and several other countries. Also they have plans to broadcast the movie on 400 different television channels in the world.
