Microsoft Co. announced last Thursday that King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) Students Team took second place globally in the Imagine Cup 2010 World Finals, thus becoming the first Arab nation team to win the prize in this annual global competition. The event was hosted by the Company in Warsaw, Poland. KFUPM team reached the final round after being nominated in the first round of the competition in which 340 teams took part in April 2010. In the second round, Microsoft adjudged KFUPM Team as one of the best six teams besides Brazil, Singapore, Serbia and Taiwan to compete in the final round that took place in Poland last Thursday. "Imagine Cup" is the world's premier student technology competition hosted by Microsoft, the world's biggest technology company. This intense competition is open to students around the world to draw talents and aims to empower them to creatively and innovatively utilize technology to find solutions to the existing human problems. --More
