based Al-Watan slammed the French newspaper of 'le Figaro' which published a fabricated report quoting King Abdullah ibn Abdulaziz, and said how it will be possible for an international newspaper like le Figaro to tell lies involving the name of an international political personality like King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz. The French newspapers alleged that the Saudi Monarch had said 'there are two countries in the region which don't deserve survival: Israel and Iran'. Al-Watan noted that an official Saudi source had categorically denied the report and described it as 'fabricated and baseless.' Al-Watan asked: How it will be possible for a king who advocates peace and understanding to spell out such a statement? "The statement in which the French newspaper quoted biased sources which do not conform with the wise political behavior of King Abdullah and the Saudi government," said the daily, adding that it would have been better for le Figaro to make the report subject to investigation prior to its publication. The stand of the Kingdom vis-a-vis Iran and Israel is known and it is announced; as regards Iran the Kingdom has been demonstrating its keenness on maintaining a good neighborhood with Iran and it believes in the importance of cooperation of Iran with the international community. As regards Israel, the Saudi stand is also known and clear: there is an Arab initiative for peace and this initiative will not indefinitely remain on the table, said the daily adding that 'how it was possible for le Figaro to commit such a gross mistake? Anyway, apology is an indication for good intention and silence is a sign for bad intention, and the choice is for le Figaro to go on the path it likes, the daily concluded.
