The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) signed here today a Memorandum of Understanding by which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provides $ 10,841,096 as a grant to assist the displaced in Pakistan. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the SFD Vice Chairman and Managing Director Eng. Yousef bin Ibrahim Al-Bassam and UNHCR Regional Representative to the GCC Yaqoub Al Hillo. Under the supervision of the SFD, the UNHCR will allocate the grant to provide foodstuff and non-foodstuff for thousands of displaced Pakistanis affected by violence and instability in the north-western part of the country. "The items include 2500 tents, 379200 blankets, 126400 plastic cover and 20000 food baskets to be distributed in Ramadan," UNHCR said in a press statement.
