Pakistan's Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said energy sector was the top priority of government and for it alternative energy resources were being explored to meet the growing energy demands. The Prime Minister was talking to Chairman of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Shakeel Durrani, who called on him recently at the Prime Minister's House, according to a report of the Associated Press. The WAPDA Chairman apprised the Prime Minister of the storage and hydel power projects taken up by the authority. He also briefed him about the progress on Diamir-Bhasha, Neelum-Jehlum, Gomal Zam,Satpara and Golan-Gol projects. The Prime Minister urged the WAPDA Chairman to expedite work on the projects to reduce the shortfall of energy and minimize the demand-supply gap.
