The head of Egypt's Suez Canal Authority said that revenue from the canal climbed to $395 million in May, a 15 percent gain over the same month in 2009, AP reported. Egypt's official Middle East News Agency on Wednesday quoted SCA head Adm. Ahmed Fadel as saying the gains were the highest since November 2009, when canal revenues were $365.5 million. At that time, international trade was hard hit by the global economic meltdown. Canal revenues stood at $374.9 million in April. The canal is one of Egypt's chief sources of foreign currency revenue. -- SPA
