The Islamic Institute for Research and Training, an affiliate of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), has announced launching the data system of the Islamic banks and financial institutions "IBIS" as an Electronic-Gate Data for Islamic Banking Information. This will facilitate the necessary and required information to academicians and researchers as well as specialists in the field of Islamic financial services throughout the world. Dr Ahmad Mohammed Ali, the IDB's President, has reiterated the adherence of the IDB to making available all information that may contribute to the development and spreading of the Islamic financial and banking sciences and services. He pointed out that the new system of "IBIS" contains comprehensive information about the Islamic banks, cooperation companies and Islamic investment funds throughout the world. The IBIS system also contains a bank for information composed of all (Fiqh) ideas in the domains of banking, and Islamic financing, he added.
