The number of those injured in the Wednesday explosion at the Novokuznetsk-based ferroalloy plant has gone up to 17, a spokeswoman for the local investigation administration of the Russian Prosecutor General's Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass. According to the spokeswoman, two of the injured are in grave condition. Proceeding from previous reports, the blast at the plant's metal crushing shop killed one worker and injured ten more. Criminal proceedings were initiated on charges of violations of labour safety regulations causing human death. Meanwhile, investigators said the accident was caused by a breach in the technological process leading to an explosion of ferrosilicon dust. Investigation is underway.
