Western Balkan leaders said Saturday that the European Union enlargement did not cause the current financial crisis and therefore should not be put on hold, AP reported. At a meeting in Sarajevo, the presidents of Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro agreed their joint strategic interest is membership in the EU and that although their countries are at different stages of the process, they will push each other on the path. The leaders, however, expressed concern over the evident EU expansion fatigue caused by the current financial crisis in the Union. They urged EU foreign ministers to reaffirm their commitment toward accepting Western Balkan countries as members at a summit next week in Sarajevo. -- SPA
