The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Ibn Ibrahim Al-Naimi met here today with Sudanese Minister of Energy and Mining Al-Zubair Ahmed Al-Hassan. During the meeting, a draft mining license accord was signed for the exploitation of copper, zinc, gold, silver and associated minerals in the site Atlantis-2 in the Red Sea on an area of 60 square kilometers for a period of 30 years. It has been awarded to Saudi Manafie' International Company Ltd. owned by the private sector. Joint Saudi-Sudanese Standing Committee will supervise and follow up the license. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Naimi said, that during the meeting they completed discussion of mechanisms relating to license applications and the mechanism of their issuance in the joint area in the Red Sea for the exploitation of mineral ores, commending the spirit of cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sudan, which contributed to reaching mining agreements between the two countries. The meeting was attended by Prince Faisal Ibn Turki Ibn Abdulaziz, Advisor at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and a number of officials.
