Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, who is also Chairman of the Higher Committee of First International Conference for Urban Heritage in the Islamic Countries, said that in hosting the First Conference, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has launched the first initiative for generating the world interest in Islamic Urban Heritage. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following inauguration of Expo of Craftsmen which was held here on Monday evening on the sidelines of the Conference, he said, "The conference was convened to put an end to the voices that flout the Kingdom's heritage and down-play it. The contempt of urban sites in the homeland is a mistake and a crime against the homeland. We should take care of these sites so that they will be sources of our pride. " The Prince said that the Conference's success has been due to the keenness of the Saudi leadership on the successes of all matters in the interest of Islamic nations.
