General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received here today German Chancellor Angela Merkel who is heading a high level delegation on a visit to the United Arab Emirates. Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE, under the wise leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to strengthen its bilateral relations with Germany. He praised the progressive ties and strategic partnership between the two countries. During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed discussed with Merkel ways to boost ties of cooperation, particularly in the political, economic, tourism and cultural fields. They also reviewed developments in the Middle East peace process, topics of mutual interest, cooperation in educational fields and means of benefiting from the German expertise, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM". Sheikh Mohammed and Merkel also exchanged views on regional and international issues. Welcoming the German Chancellor, Sheikh Mohammed said that her visit to the UAE would certainly contribute in boosting the partnership between the UAE and Germany. "Germany is one of the most advanced countries, specially in the professional domains. We can benefit from Germany's expertise in providing top quality education and vocational training, as well joint research for knowledge-based economy," he said.
