The Algerian government today announced a 286- billion-dollar spending programme to boost infrastructure and other projects, dpa reported. President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's plan would invest 156 billion dollars for new projects through 2014 and spend 130 billion dollars on existing programmes. Bouteflika promised the funds in elections last year, with the goal of creating millions of new jobs in the second-largest African nation and improving roads, railways and waterworks.
