class center of excellence in polymer catalysis based on a synergistic collaboration between the newly endowed KAUST chair and SABIC's own well-established expertise in catalyst development. In presenting the endowment check, Dr. Al-Ubaid said, “For SABIC, catalysis holds special interest due to our ongoing need for novel, high-performance catalysts that can be used in new and existing SABIC products and processes.” He added that the company's quest for excellence in catalysis will be further supported through SABIC grants for post-doctoral fellowships and sponsorship of further research at KAUST. In addition to Material Science and Engineering, KAUST has also established multidisciplinary Research Centers within each of three other focus areas of major interest: Resources, Energy and Environment; Biosciences and Bioengineering; and Applied Mathematics and Computational Science.
