At least one person was killed and dozens injured after a 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit a town east of the Algerian capital today, dpa quoted eyewitnesses as saying. Many buildings collapsed with some residents jumping in terror from their apartments when the earthquake hit the town of Beni Yellman, 300 kilometres east of Algiers. The Research centre for Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics in Algeria measured the quake at a 5.2-magnitude earthquake.
