In the presence of Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the King of Saudi Arabia, who is also member of the Board of Directors of King Abdulaziz Public Library, Dr. Ziyad bin Abdullah Al-Darees, the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to UNESCO, and Erena Bokova, Director General of UNESCO, co-held a reception party here this evening to mark the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud International Prize for Translation. The event was also attended by Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, the General Supervisor for King Abdulaziz Public Library, which supervises the prize's giving away ceremonies and senior protocol officials. In a statement to SPA, bin Muammar said the UNESCO's invitation to host the prize is a recognition to the prize's initiator the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, noting that this initiative is part of dialogue mechanisms launched by the monarch for rapprochement with the rest of the world of today and exposure of Islam's moderation and tolerance. On the other hand, Al-Darees drew the attention that the initiative originated from the monarch's humanitarian motive calling for more rapprochement among world cultures. He proved the internationality of the prize in both name and act, citing that translators from different countries and nationalities won the prize and that more than 190 representatives from all parts of the world and nearly 800 invitees attended the ceremony.
