Shares tumbled Thursday on the Seoul stock exchange on concerns over a spreading debt crisis in the eurozone, according to dpa. The benchmark Kospi index shed 34.04 points, or 2 per cent, to close at 1,684.71, the first time it has fallen below the 1,700-point-mark since the end of March. Declining issues outnumbered advancers 619 to 195. The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market shed 9.76 points to 509.23, a drop of 1.88 per cent. On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,141.30 Korean won, after Wednesday's close of 1,115.50 won, up 0.79 per cent.
