Nine Taliban fighters equipped with suicide vests and automatic weapons attacked government buildings in western Afghanistan today, killing a lawmaker, one civilian and two policemen, dpa quoted officials as saying. "All the nine attackers were killed," General Jabar Purdeli, the provincial police chief, told the German Press Agency dpa. "Eight were killed when they detonated their vests or when the vests exploded as police shot at them and the ninth attacker was shot dead by our forces and his vest was intact," he said. Five policemen and six civilians were injured, Purdeli said. The Interior Ministry said police had seized an explosive-laden vehicle before the militants were able to detonate it. -- SPA
