Hopes for comprehensive and just peace," the Makkah-based Al-Nadwah said the Cabinet at its meeting here on Monday under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, reiterated the importance of creating the suitable environment for bringing about peace in the region in line with the international resolutions and Arab peace initiative. "The renewal of this call comes at a time when the US middle east envoy is visiting the region for giving an impetus to the peace process," said the paper, noting that the call of King Abdullah is a message to the international community in general and to the US in particular to work seriously and genuinely for realizing a just peace. The Arab peace initiative constitutes the best chance for realizing peace because it is based on the resolutions of the international legitimacy, and if Israel complies with the resolutions of the international legitimacy and withdraws from the occupied Arab territories, and the Arabs are able to restore all their rights, then the road will be paved for normalization of relations with the Arab countries which means the just and comprehensive peace advocated by the Kingdom. As regards activating negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, the paper said it will be a good development provided that Israel pays the price of peace and stops its aggressive policy towards the Palestinians, adding that continuous siege and expansion of settlements hinder any progress at the Palestinian Israeli track. The international community should put pressure on Israel for activating the peace process, but the final resolution based on a just and comprehensive peace will come through adherence to the Arab peace initiative. --More
