au-Prince, April 16, 2010, SPA -- UN peacekeepers are investigating the crash of a helicopter about 30 miles (50 kilometers) southeast of the Haitian capital. It is not known to whom the helicopter belongs or how many people were aboard. UN spokesman George Ola-Davies said all the mission's helicopters have been accounted for. A UN search party and reconnaissance helicopter were dispatched to Fond Verrettes, the site near the Dominican Republic border where the crash was said to occur. Helicopters are widely used by aid groups and militaries to cross Haiti's mountainous terrain, AP reported.
