Israel allowed a consignment of clothes and footwear
to enter the Gaza Strip Sunday, the first such consignments of these
products to enter the impoverished salient since 2007, Raed Fatouch,
Goods Coordinator for the Gaza Strip, said, according to dpa.
Israel slapped a blockade on the Gaza Strip in June 2006.
Although Israel does allow goods to enter the Strip, the amount
and type is limited.
Israel has come under increasing pressure to end its blockade,
with critics saying it amounts to collective punishment of the Gaza
Strip population
