A factory of PT Seruni Sempana Agung at Jalan Joho No 3, Kebonanom Gedangan village, Sidoarjo, East Java, went up in flames Friday night. Fire fighters said the fire broke out in the production section of the factory which produced plastic household utensils. The flames were triggered by the cleansing machine liquid which caught fire which quickly spread to the heap of flammable plastic products, ANTARA reported. When the fire broke out and spread to the production division, there were 25 employees working on the night shift, but they managed to quickly save themselves and hand in hand tried to put out the raging flames with anything they could lie their hands on. "Many of them also took water from a river in front of the factory, but the flames were still raging destroying the flammable plastic products," said Mujali, one of the workers. Fortunately, a fire fighting engine arrived at the scene and the flames were put out in an hour. Material loss had been estimated at tens of millions of rupiah.
