South Korean carmaker Kia Motors said today it plans to build a new 100-million-euro (136.7 million dollars) engine factory near its existing plant in Slovakia, according to dpa. The new plant, to be located in the western city of Zilina, is designed to produce up to 150,000 engines annually for a Hyundai plant in the neighbouring Czech Republic. Construction is planned to start in April, the company said. Kia Motors makes both engines and cars in Slovakia. The 1-billion- euro Zilina plant has turned out more than 540,000 cars for the European market since production began in December 2006, the carmaker said.
