On behalf of Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, President of Arab Gulf Program for United Nations Development Organizations (AGFUND), who is also Honorary President of Saudi Society of Family and Community Medicine, Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz opened in Jeddah on Monday evening the 1st Saudi and 4th Gulf Conference for Health Promotion. The speech of Prince Talal was read on his behalf by Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz in which he praised the Conference and its objectives, saying that the real development focuses on human cadres and their fine preparation through the provision of health and educational services so as to make them qualified for coping with the changes of the modern times. On his part, the Director General of Executive Board of the Council of Health Ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states Dr. Tawfiq bin Ahmed Khoja, expressed his thanks to and appreciation of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier for the progress of the health sector, which focuses on building healthy Saudi and Gulf communities. He noted that the Board had prepared a Gulf plan on creating awareness about non-communicable diseases over seven years at a total cost of more than SR 25 million in cooperation with AGFUND and with the financial support of $ 300,000 from Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz.
