The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today expressed hope that the issue of discrimination on religious bases and religions offense could enjoy special attention in the reports drafted by the United National Human Rights High Commission. This came in a speech delivered by Dr. Abdulwahab Attar, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in Geneva, before the 13th session of the Human Rights High Commission. Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Chairman of Human Rights Commission of Saudi Arabia, leads his country's delegation to the meetings. Attar said the High Commission has exerted strenuous efforts to make Durban conference a success and made the issue of discrimination combat among its priorities. However, the issue of segregation because of religion takes special emphasis in the current time, particularly with the increase of Islam-and-Muslim leaders defaming incidents which constitute a breach of Muslims rights. He said Saudi Arabia supports a proposal to enhance the UN Human Rights Commission's budget. He voiced support for the statements presented by each of the Arab Group, Islamic Group and nonalignment countries group in this meeting.
