Russian security forces killed at least four insurgents during a gun battle in Russia's North Caucasus region of Ingushetia, Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday. The shootout began after police surrounded several houses in the town of Ekazhevo, five km (three miles) southeast of Nazran, the largest town in the region, a spokesman for the local police commander was quoted by Interfax as saying. "The militants opened fire when they were ordered to surrender. Four of them were killed in the clash," he said. RIA news agency reported that five insurgents were killed. At least five insurgents were still hiding in nearby buildings, Interfax reported.
