Riyadh is hosting later today a Conference of Donor Countries for Yemen in line with a decision of The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to discuss possible assistance to Yemen. Moreover, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the Conference in its capacity as the largest donor to Yemen emanating from the principle of neighborhood and brotherhood between the two countries and its keenness on the enhancement of Yemen's security, prosperity and stability, according to a report prepared by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The GCC countries have pledged at the donors conference in London about 50 per cent of the total pledges made by donor countries to support development in Yemen amounting to more than $ 4.7 billion, which is an equivalent to more than 86 per cent of the financing gap amounting to $ 5.5 billion needed by Yemen. The Conference will be attended by high-level delegations from America, Britain, Japan, European Union, United Nations, and the World Bank. --MORE
