The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) participated in the 11th session of the International Contact Group (ICG) on Guinea which was held recently in Conakry, the Republic of Guinea. The meeting , jointly co-chaired by the African Union and The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) reviewed the latest positive political developments in Guinea in particular the formation of the new government and received a detailed briefing on the preparations for elections from the independent National Electoral Commission and the Minister in charge. The meeting was also addressed by the new Prime Minister of Guinea, Jean-Marie Dore, who briefed on the plans by his government to conclude a successful political transition. The ICG was also received in audience by the President of the Republic. The OIC Representative to the meeting was separately received in audience by General Sekouba Konate, President of the Republic of Guinea and delivered a written message from the OIC Secretary General. The President commended OIC's solidarity and concrete support for his country. The meeting adopted a communiqué in which participants expressed satisfaction on the recent positive developments in Guinea, according to a latest report carried by OIC's web-site.
