Prince Dr Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed Al-Saud, Vice-president of King Abdulaziz City for Sciences and Technology for research institutes, chaired here today the first meeting for the Ministerial Council of the Executive Committee of the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), an affiliate of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). Speaking on the occasion, Prince Turki underscored the importance of sciences and technology and said these fields constitute the major source for economic development, adding that it is an essential matter for the Muslim countries to cooperate in these vital domains in a manner that realizes the ambitions of the Muslim countries. He praised the decision of the Islamic Foreign Ministers pertaining to the support of COMSTECH and said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in realization of the importance of the decision, has joined the membership of the Ministerial Council of the Committee's Secretariat. --MORE
