A German government spokesman says Chancellor Angela Merkel has accepted an invitation from President Barack Obama to attend an April summit on nuclear nonproliferation. The spokesman said Sunday that Merkel had agreed «in principle» to attend the summit to be held in Washington on April 12-13, AP reported. Media reported Merkel was considering adding visiting California as part of the trip, but the government said details of her visit were «not yet firm.» Obama announced at last year's Group of Eight summit he planned to invite 25 to 30 leaders to the U.S. to discuss how to combat nuclear terrorism.
