Watan newspaper pointed out that Iran has turned down the initiative of US President Obama towards Tehran which paved the way for the neo-conservatives to call for firmly confronting Iran including imposition of economic sanctions against it. The paper said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen on enhancing the pillars of peace and Prince Saud al-Faisal, the Foreign Minister, has made it clear to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that Riyadh rejects the military option because the Kingdom believes that a mistake should never be tackled by another mistake. "But this does not mean that the Kingdom will tolerate compromise on the Iranian behavior in the region because the nuclear weapons constitute a real threat," said the daily, adding that instead of focusing attention on the Iranian nuclear weapon it would have been better to focus on the Israeli nuclear weapons. On the trend to impose economic sanctions on Iran, the daily said this policy may force Iran to go on the right path, but the success of this trend depends on the Russian and Chinese stands at the Security Council.
